|  Genus: Elongate, ovoid; anterior apex often curves over the peristome; non contractile (Carey, 1992).  
In front of cytostome a two-layered undulating membrane on right edge; contractile vacuole and 
cytopyge terminal; rose-colored; many species (Kudo, 1966). Species: 70-250 μm long; peristome 1/3 or at times half of the body; 12-15 somatic ciliary rows on one side of the body; macronucleus binodal, two nodes are connected by a thin strand; micronuclei 1-12 are located near the macronuclear membrane; cysts ovoid and dark brown in color; (Giese, 1973). |
