Euglena schmitzii Species: Cell body elongated spindle-shaped or cylindrical, posterior end pointed, 63-92 μm long, 12-18 μm wide; euglenoid movement rare; chloroplasts ribbon-shaped, radiated from two paramylon centers; flagellum about 1/3 to 1/2 of the body length; nucleus ellipsoidal, 10-12 μm long, 7-8 μm wide, located between the two paramylon centers; stigma 4-5 μm long; mucous body granular in shape (An illustrated guide to freshwater zooplankton in Japan, 2000).
