Stentor coeruleus Species: Body trumpet-shaped; macronucleus moniliform; 1-2 mm when extended; contractile vacuole anterior; pellicle dark, bluish-green color (How to know the protozoa, 1979).
Cell body slenderly trumpet shaped, 1000-2000 μm long when fully extended; macronucleus moniliform; cortical granules blue-green; without symbiotic algae (Foissner and Wölfl, 1994).
