Enchelyodon trepida (Kahl, 1928) Borror, 1965 (Syn. Trachelocerca trepida Kahl, 1928): Cell body flask-shaped, curved, 70-150 μm long; a distinct neck region, apical cytosotme and dorsal brush; macronuleus C- or S-shaped; highly thigmotactic (Carey, 1992).
Enchelyodon farctus Claparède and Lachmann, 1859 : Ovoid, 200 μm long; nematodesmata of cytopharyngeal basket long and extended 1/3 of the body length; macronucleus sausage-shaped & crescent; contractile vacuole terminal (Carey, 1992).
Enchelyodon sulcatus Kahl, 1930: Ellipsoidal, 100-120 μm long, not contractile; a buccal plateau present with a distinct dorsal brush; body kineties distinctive giving this species a striped appearance; macronucleus sausage-shaped (Carey, 1992).
