Loxodes magnus
Stokes, 1887 var. penardi

Loxodes Genus: Oral area round, behind rostrum, leads into tubular cavity (Illustrated Guide, 1985).
Species: Extended about 700 μm long; dark brown; twelve to twenty or more Müllerian vesicles in a row along dorsal border (Kudo, 1966). Cell body elongated ovoid in shape, posterior end rounded, up to 635 μm long (or 400-800 μm long by Dragesco); ventral surface slightly flattened, buccal groove reached approximately 1/7 of the body length; numerous Müllerian vesciles, macronuclei; 13-23 in number (Carey, 1972).

Loxodes magnus var. penardi ?, cell body 290 μm long, μm wide, Müllerian vesicles (Müller vesicles or statocystoids) visible, at least 12 in number, small spherical nuclei (Mac or Mic ?) at least 6 in number, x 400, x 640, Otto-Numa (pond), Tsuchiura city, Ibaraki Pref., Japan, July 2002 by Y.
