Balladyna Genus: Ellipsoid; frontals not well developed or lacking; one ventral and two marginal rows of cirri; long dorsal and lateral stiff cirri; fresh water (Kudo, 1966). Generally small, ovoid or elongate; peristome small, 1/3 of the body length; three (one ventral and two mariginal ?) longitudinal rows of ventral cirri and one row of long, thin cirri (=lateral stiff cirri) to right and left of the ventrals; no frontal cirri; a row of transverse cirri; two macronuclei (Carey, 1992).

B. elonagta Roux, 1901: 32-35 μm long, 11-12 μm wide; fresh water (Kudo, 1966). Small, sausage-shaped, 35 μm long; three rows of ventral cirri; two spherical macronuclei (Carey, 1992).
Oxytricha setigera: 50 μm long (How to know the protozoa, 1979).
