Vitreochlamys Species: Cell body (cellwall) broad ellipsoidal or inverted ovoid or spherical, 15-38 μm long, 10-30 μm wide cellwall thin; papilla absent; protoplast broad ovoid; length of flagella same as that of cell body; chloroplast cup-shaped, anterior half striated; a large pyrenoid located at posterior; stigma circular or elliptical, located at equator; nucleus at the center of the cell; two contractile vacuoles apical; other tree or four vacuoles also present (Süßwasserflora von Mitteleuropa 9, Chlorophyta I, 1983).
