 three ends prolonged in small hyaline rounded processes; laterally concave; body shape and arms highly 
 variable, cell wall hyaline or dark brownish, smooth or granulated; usually two ribbon-like 
 chloroplasts, or up to 12 chloroplasts irregularly arranged, each without pyrenoids
