Trachelomonas caudata

Genus: Euglenas in a close fitting lorica; a single long flagellum extends through small opening; lorica with or without short collar; yellow to brown (How to know the protozoa, 1979). Lorica often possesses numerous spines, composed of ferric hydroxide impregnated with brown manganic compound (Kudo, 1966).
Species: Lorica ellipsoid to nearly fusiform, posterior end conically tapering into a stout projection; flagellum apertures with a low collar having a circle of spines; wall covered with short spines; 48-50 μm long, 20-23 μm wide (Photomicrographs of the Fresh-water Algae, vol.3, 1985).
